I was playin guitar the other day and using my distortion pedal for some readon I turned my guitar volume control knob to 0 and I started hearing talking and people saying prayers in Spanish I got freaked out then I realized it was coming from my amp so I messed with the controls on my distortion and amp and I started getting pretty good reception. I was just wandering if this ever happened to anyone else or anyone knew why it happened

That happened to me once when I was playing in a guitar store, and they told me it was because we were close to a radiop station and the amp was picking up the signals. Hope this answers your question!

What is happening is that the building you are in is not grounded very well. The wiring in the building acts like a big antenna and the signal is set to anything with speakers. A ground lifter or a Furman power strip will eliminate the problem.
Hope this helps.

Try living 200 yards away from a 50,000 watt radio station!

Hey cajunboy2k71, thanks for posting the fix. I've been getting the spooky Spanish prayer channel through my stereo subwoofer since I moved into my house. Was always wondering what I could do about it.

heh, remember in Spinal Tap?
Yeah that happened to me a few months ago.
Now I'm going to have nightmares where I'm playing a gig and it happens.

One time, when I was teaching a student, I had the same experience from 2 radios: CB's
and the rest is just too unbeliveable

your guitar might be working as an antenna, this can be caused by bad grounding. also cables might receive the radio, the cheaper the cable, the better the reception :p.
i think it's just being in the wrong place with the wrong gear :)

I may as well conclude, as this is quite actually very funny
I was teaching a private student at the music store, and the conversation that came across was very loud, the whole store could hear it(lol)and the conversation was not nice. Alot of vulgar language, telling about a couple having an affair, a very horrible story in very torrid detail. Then I saw this distraught look on my students face. He was in shock. He said "Oh my God!" That's my brothers wife and his neighbor they're talking about!"
I almost fell out of my chair. I couldnt control the volume, even turning it on zero, so I had to shut the amp off. You sure guessed it when you said "Bad Ground" lol
Needless to say, there was a fist fight shortly followed by a divorce.

The message was transmitted between a conversation on CB radios
I used to be a private detective
but found playing guitar was much more enjoyable
(just kidding)lol!

If u guys have a website, I'll gladly give you a link to help promote your band. If u need to check out some other cool websites, where you can also build one in 5 min/4 free
go to Steve's site. Online Rock
He's now offering 24/7 radio, and you can send ur CD, and he'll play it. And I think he will even sell it, and take care of the orders for like 3 bucks a CD
I've always really liked Online Rock.
Let's see, it goes http://www.onlinerock.com
So, what's your best tune, and can I give you a link?
And please let me know if u like online rock.
Thanks
