i was talking to someone i know about music and whatnot and they mentioned disharmony. i can imagine what it is, but i want to know for sure. what is it and how can it be used?

Uhm...
It's also called dissonance. It is just two, or more, notes that sound "off key", but still sound good together. It's kind of hard to explain without going into theory.

heh, wow, i forgot about this topic.
i dont mind if you go into theory, i like that kind of stuff. if your too lazy to type it out i understand, but any reasources i can read up on it?

i'm not too sure about it too... but disharmoney and dissonance is to create a sort of 'tension' and an anticiapation of the next chord. By itself, a dissonant chord will sounds weird, but played in a progression its totally different
Eg:
E7b9
|x7676x|
when played by itself it sounds funny,
but try playing an Am after that and it makes more sense
