Flea is very good, but I wouldn't call him, or anybody else, the "master" of bass.
There is, and has been, a whole slew of great bassists in the world, and throughout the history of music.

don't forget the great bass innovator of funk, one of them . . .
and there is a fella named John Flaugher who rips. He's a brooklyn guy, local I guess. sometimes you hear some nobody and think they are the greatest underdog bassist ever.

um, yea.

Les Claypool is god.
Jaco Pastorius is second god.
Victor Wooten is third god.
Flea is pretty damn good, but he is no jaco or les claypool.

For all you kids who dont know who jaco or les are, download the songs tommy the cat from primus and portrait of tracy from jaco pastorius.

Unplug your microphone from your comp,
Take a head phones adapter, for the large end to plug into an adapter with a small end
plug the small end into where the microphone plugs in
Music Match Jukebox will let you record it, (Change the recorder to record from "line in")
You can get MusicMatch from www.freewarefiles.com

Enjoy

They are all so humbled by your incredible talent that they feel they could never do justice to play along side of you. The record companies won't give you a contract cuz everybody would only listen to you and all those other bands would be out of jobs.

The record companies want more bands so they can sell more records. You'd only put out 1 a year where as 10 bands will put out 10 a year. More profit. That's why you are the greatest but don't have a contract.

I wont say flea is the best bass player, he has a different style then all others, there really is no best bass player, there are also amazing bass players that nobosy knows about becasue they are nto main stream, when i was at Guitar center i met this really good bass player and wee talked for a long tim, i think he was better than flea and any 1 else i ever met, my list of bass players is this...

Marcus miller
flea(rhcp)
matt freemen(rancid)
the guy from tool
Tim cammerford(rage/audioslave)
paul mcartneyt(beatles)
Les claypool(primus/les claypools frog brigade)
bootsy collins
p-nut(311)
tghe guys from sublime

Anfc this isn't in order, just some names to add to the list, and there are alot more

B-Funk420
07-01-2003, 01:01 PM
man, how could I have forgotten P-Nut and Matt Freeman. Both very very good bass players. and Eric Wilson is the bass player from Sublime. I'm pretty sure that's his last name anyway. Now he plays in Long Beach Dub All Stars with Floyd Gaugh (Sublime's drummer).

bassplayer666
07-01-2003, 04:31 PM
yeah no1 can forget p-nut, freeman , and eric yeah thats his name i forgot, well i kno htis stuff cuz they really inspired me, i grew up listening to bass rifts which got me into it, my first cd was mirvana when i was in 1st grade and me and my friend alex douris used to like kik ass music then started a band and then i quite cuz i dont play hardcor/emocor i playt funk, funk is the best, i love the flow of it, its so relaxing, and i like skapunk like sublime becasue its just so much fun, I'm only 13 years old and i have very much experience at this age not to be ****y but i think its better to push urself and take it seriously whenur younger becasue it pays off in the end.

B-Funk420
07-01-2003, 04:40 PM
that's what I like to hear man... playing the funk at an early age. Keep it up brother !!

BassTallica
07-01-2003, 06:01 PM
the bassist from tool is not normal.. hes a gov't experiment.. his spine is teh neck off a 32 fret bass and his viens are round wound nickle... hes crazy

:D

bassplayer666
07-01-2003, 07:11 PM
I think Tim cammerford from Rage should get some props, i miss that band soo much, i think they were one of the best main streem bands, he should get props for that and to be along side of tom cammerelo, becasue tom(guitar) makes alot of rages rifts tim(bass) has to give them back some dept and what he plays isn;t anythign tom(guitar) plays its so different which gives it dept and to plkay different notes and rythems then the guitarist is kinda hard, most bass players blend in or play almost the same as guitarist tom(bass) does the same but in a better more eficient way

BassTallica
07-01-2003, 07:14 PM
did rage have 2 differnt guitarist though out their career?>?

Yeah man not a lot of people do right hand tapping or at least I don't see a lot of guys doint it. One of my favorite guys is john myung from dream theater. He does tapping stuff and is pretty amazing. I love his style and how fast he goes with his fingers. You should check out dream theater out if you've never heard them.
