need help with some chords

hey guys, i'm trying to figure out songs on my own. i need to know the common types of chords that are used in songs. so far i know that open chords, barre chords, power chords and 7th chords are the common ones. what other types of chords do i need to know?

no complex jazz chords please.. i'm not good enough to even touch the jazz stuff :)
