besides the TOTALLY low end you get what from a fiver what is the big deal?i downtune to get the same effect and still have only 3 strings to worry about besides D?????????im askin bass players not guitarists that think its cool to "dabble" in the deep end!!!!!thanks

i feel that its better to play in standard tuning then down tuning..
when down tuned to D things get some what the same after a while
and when in C everythign is the freakin same pisses me off...grrrr
were with a 5 strign you can stay in standard tuning and still have the low end.
plus ya can get a little more complicated with that extra string
also for me i like the feeling of a bigger neck.

im with flea bass C & D stink you play intrikit bass lines.
in my therey their are bass "lines" "solos" & "support"
Lines are either made by the bassist or the main notes of the melody & then making a whole riffs & varietys out of it.
solos are solos.
& support is when you just play a deeper version of the melody & dont make it interesting or anything.for example:line:flea.solo:grover washintn jr.support:Chevelle!
