Right now I have a small 15 watt practice amp and I want to buy a new amp soon. What I want is a 40-80 watt amp with good clean and distortion channels, and somewhere in the price range of $500 or less. The amps I am already looking at are, Marshall mg80rcd and avt50, the Crate gfx212 and the Randall rg100sc. I would like some feedback on these amps and others because I cant play them myself.

The AVT 50 is a great amp. All the AVTs have great tone. I have been quite pleased with them. I have a GFX-212, it's OK. For what it is, it's quite a nice amp. I am looking to sell mine for something a little bigger. I would not recommend the MG series by marshall. They actually aren't made by marshall, they are made by a company owned by marshall, and marshall puts their name on it. The MG series is just a cheap solid state line. It's for people who can't afford a nice marshall but they want a marshall.
AVT 50 is probably better than the GFX-212. I don't know anything about the randall amp, but randall makes great solid state amps.

I can't afford a Marshall but want one... how do the Marshall MG's compare in sound quality? (If it's bad, stop me before I go off and buy it around the 6th)

They aren't even marshalls man. It's just an amp that marshall puts their name on. Marshall's lower line company (like epiphone of gibson) makes the MG series amps and marshall just screws their name on it. The MGs suck actually. It never does any good to buy cheap. Save your money up, you will thank yourself later, trust me.

What amp would you recommend for under $300? Being a minor I rely on allowances. Unfortunately, I can't exactly go off and work in dirty factories for little money in life-threatening conditions, not that I see the harm in doing so...

Just save your money up for an amp. Anything under 300 bucks is gonna suck. I used to think the same way as you... but I learned my lesson after buying two ****ty guitars. I was out 400 bucks and I had two piece of ****s that I now hate. Just wait for christmas or whatever. Shop around, find the best value for money. I'd say a Line 6 amp or Marshall AVT100 or higher.

I think I'll just save up for an AVT20 for now, I don't need a large amp. 30 watts would be the maximum that I'd say I need. I don't really perform or anything, just jam w/ buddies.
