Is there a way to tell if a song is written in a mode? I have recently been writing songs using modes, however, I have trouble figuring out if other songs use them. Thanks

Well, to find out if a song is in a certain mode, take all the notes played in that song and write them down. The first note played in the song is probably the root, so figure out the degree each note is from the root. Say you have a song with the notes A, B, G, and E in it. A is the root. B would be the major second, so it can't be Phrygian or Locrian. G is the minor 7th, so that rules out the major modes. E is the fifth, so it is either Dorian or Aeolian (minor). If there is a solo involved, look at the notes to find out whether or not the song has a minor sixth or a major sixth, and that will determine it.
