I have a Yamaha 12 string I have had for a few years ( under 4)
anyway. I was changing out the strings last weekend and every since the high D string PEG at the base keeps popping out when I play. It has the White pegs that push into the hole and hol dthe end of the sting in place. Is there anythign I can do to fix it. In over 25 years of playign guitarand like a dozen 12 strings, not to mention the 6 strings I have never had
this happen.
> thanks.

Over time the hole where the pegs fit into will widen, or the pegs themselves become worn. You could buy a whole new set of pegs (or just replace the one, but it will look funny). You might find some that fit the guitar a little better. Or you might do something to make your current peg a little wider. I have taken some scotch and wrapped it around the peg a couple of times before. This will make it a little tighter fit. Take a razor blade and cut the tape away from the groove in the peg.
The last thing is that when you changed strings, the string might not have pulled up to the highest most point when you put the peg in. The ball will fit into that groove at the highest point that you can pull the string up. As you change the string, tug up on the string as you are pushing the pin down. Make sure the groove of the peg is facing the sound hole. You will usually hear a small "pop" to let you know that the string is in place properly. You will be able to see the winding of the string near the ball slightly above where the pin is. If it is not at the highest most point, and in the groove, the ball will just pull the peg out of the hole when you tune up.
That should do the trick :)

One solution would be to buy a set of EZ Pegs. They work a bit differently than plain old pegs. If you go into Google with "EZ PEG", there are lots of things to look at. Good luck!
