Hi guys. I just bought my very first bass guitar about a week ago. I have a question though : when slapping, what part of your thumb do you use ? The left side of it probably (if you're right-handed) but I mean do you use the part near the tip of your thumb or more at the knuckle ?

My first reflex was to slap using the side of the knuckle...that gives the best sound I think. What do you guys think ?

when i slap (i never really do i feel its more for blues adn jazz and funk) but when i do i hit the strings just about on my first knuckle on the thumb maybe about a quater of a centimeter more towards the nail... i find that gives ya the best sound.

yeah man just find what is comfortable for you. you'll know if the way your hitting it is wrong and if it sounds like crap.
