Writing Bass Solos

Hey Guys,
I like these forums, because it's easy to get one on one with other bassists. I'm posting because my band is getting more metal than the punk we played a while ago, and they're wanting me to do a lot more grace notes, bass fills, and in some instances, bass solos. I was wondering if any of you had any idea how to approach such a thing. CyberFretBass.Com gave me good insight about adding 3rds and 5ths into the progression, any help is VERY appreciated.

when it comes to bass solo's... no matter who ive seen play its always about the hammer ons and pulloffs... tehn they do some power cord stuff... the back to speedy hammer ons and pull offs

they do alot more but thats the main thign that sticks out to me..

im not to technical when it comes to music.. i know how to play but i could come out adn tell ya to go play like a Amin maj7 scale or what ever cause i jsut dont know that stuff srry man.. im sure some one else woudl know most of that stuff
