In guitar tab books, everynow and then above the line of tablature there is a little symbol either "8va----------------" or "15va------". I've never been able to know what this meant, maybe you all can help.

"8va" means it's actually an octave above what's written, 15 means two octaves.

Ah yes, that makes sense. Middle C acts as the end of one and the beginning of another. Thanks!
