tapping question

how do u tap with out fretting a string ill show u a tab so u understand better

ya cant tap open strings plus i dont know many bassists who tap on teh E and A strign anyway.. let alone bassists who tap at all

well i've never played bass in my life but that doesnt look like tapping.. can't you just play it as you would normally?

just cause the tab says so doesn't mean it's true. 90% of the tabs are at least partially or substantially incorrect.

yannis bassist did a pretty good solo, he did a lot of tapping, but it was on the D and G strings. i think it was yannis bassist anyway...

ok for that tab .. T is for thumb and P is for pop... its played slap... its a little confusing but if ya think slap befor tap youll be in the clear

maybe u cna use mutes just place ur finger on the string and dont push down, as if u were playing a harnmonic but dont do it on a fet with the dot on it, cuz ul get a harmonic

slapping and tapping are two very different sounds. listen to the intro to higher ground a million times, and keep thinking to yourself "this is what slap pop sounds like (when it's fast)" and then you should be able to start recognizing slap pop in other songs.

on a side note, I tap now and then, and when I do, I very often tap the E and A strings with my fretting hand, supplying the very simple bass line for the very simple melody that I'm playing with my other hand.

Really? The only song I would've ever suspected Alex to tap in is Cyanide Assassin, but I could be wrong. Any pics, videos, or songs that you could hook me up with? Now I'm interested. Thanks!
