Hi, my name is Will and i'm 14. I have recently bought a 4 string bass guitar and am lerning how to play it from this site.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anything a 'newbie' should know about playing a bass guitar? Maybe something easy to lern for a first song (preferably rock) or a trick etc...
Anything would be great :D
If you have a first song to lern how to play for me attach the tab to your post and i'll get it, or just the name of the song ;)

Hello guys,
I'm new to this forum and new to playing bass. Well long time musician, was a drummer for long time. You might try getting "Bass for Dummies" I know it sounds a little lame. But actually quite good. I origanally bought it to show me the fingerings, cords. But it also shows how to adjust it, take care of it ect.

He's 14, he's going to want to play punk rock, Will will, Will will not. We should be heading for the resurgence of that genre, just before big hair. You gotta look at the pants, bell bottoms equal 60's early 70's, disco replaced by Rap, then punk, big hair, grunge (60's rebellious) eta cetera eta cetera.

I started off by playing any and all Rage Against The Machine basslines, they are well easy and they sound good too Bombtrack from their first album(self titled) is pretty easy and it sounds good when you lay it down fully...
I ordered that bass guitar for dummies book, it got some good ratings and most of the stuff aint for dummies apparently, does any body kno if its any good??

heyz
i just started playing bass also
some easy songs are:
song2 - blur
money- pink floyd
dazed and confused(intro) - led zeppa
hey joe - jimi hendrix
important thing:
if you start fingerpicking (which I advise you to learn), place your thumb on the element, and use your middle finger and pointing finger(dunno the translation, your 2nd largest finger for playing the strings..
well, you have to develop you own style I guess.. but I thing that's important if you just start playing bass..
