How do i trademark a band name?

I *think* that u have to be signed to a record company for that to happen..what's your band called? (or you're not gonna put it up in case its ripped off you? hehe) :)

I'm this slaughteredsoul is right, you've gotta get signed with a record company, unless you start up your own record company. Coz I think the thing with names, is that its not the band who actually owns the name, its the record company. Like how Prince had to call himself The Artist Formerly Known As Prince becoz the record company owned the name Prince.

I don't think have to be signed to a record label to register your band's name as a trademark. But unless your band is really on that level, it is just not worth the money and the hassle. You have to pay to have the name researched so that you make sure that you are not infringing on someone else's trademark. So really unless your band is very big, and you are making a career of it.....I would not concern yourself with registering a trademark for your bands name.

And if some how the band name becomes owned by the recording label, you have been shafted. And record companies shafting artist is common place......so learn as much as you can about music business, and get a lawyer :)

i searched and it seems like the name is clear to use

the name i think we are going to use is "Licensed To Dream"

it's still in the planning stages so you never know
