I saw one in an american musical...it looked cool...does anyone have one?

i dont have one, but i played one when i was looking for my bass... but as a first bass, i didnt want something too much, and i didnt want to spend too much money. it sounded great, i must say, i do plan on getting one eventually, but first i need some kind of decent bass amp, and a guitar stack/combo... and thats after i pay for my tats... so itll be a while.

now, a 12-string bass. THAT is a sight to behold.

Wow a 12 string bass. I cannot emagine how big the 12th string would be. The fifth string is like the volume of my pinky. I can't explain it really. I meen like if you cut my picky off and made it longer it would = the fifth bass string. Wow the 12th string would probably be the size of my head.

an 8 string bass works like a 12 string guitar.

Oh I thought the strings get bigger and bigger for bass.

there are some that do get bigger, like this one band i listen to, the guy has a 9 sting bass. its custom made, he said he had it made because the regular 4 strings were just too restricting on his creativity.

yeah i think they do work both ways... didnt big mike have a pic of this one guy that had a 12 string or something?

damn.

haha restricting creativity. i could see how a normal bass could restrict creativity. wait, no i cant, that guy must be one helluva bassist.

even though i would imagineit is a pain to maintain, i do hope to someday add one to my arsenal, its got a great sound imo, kind of a jazzy sound i think.

would 8-strings be really heavy and would the strings be deeper?

popmusic_sux
07-20-2003, 04:45 PM
the strings would be the same size as normal strings, but with a second set of strings one octasve higher paired up. at least, traditional 8 string basses are like that as far as i know. just like a 12 string guitar.

cool bet its heavy though. If i was to get another bass it would be a 5-string one but as much as i like bass im better at guitar :D

popmusic_sux

yeah it is a little heavier than a standard bess but its not too bad

i would love that 9 string. though i have to ask why the odd number? most people go for even numbers of strings like 4, 8, 10. etc.
