Hi all. I'm new here hoping to become a better guitar player. I'm 18 been playing for 9 months now. Live in Puerto Rico (sorry bout' my english) and I love Sublime.

Anyway, I was wondering bout' apreggios. You see in the apreggios tutorials it say you should ROLL your finger. But I have seen guitarist fret the chord when playing apreggios. Can someone clear this for me?

Well you know how you strum a chord right? You push your finger really hard and fast over the strings. Well instead of pushing you finger hard and fast over the strings and getting a mashing of notes, you do it a little slower, letting each of the notes ring out and sort of sound seperated. It's like sweep picking without taking your fingers off the chord.

You can arpeggiate the notes of a chord and let the notes ring together, or you can play an arpeggio so that you are hearing the notes separately In that arpeggio lesson I am referring to playing the notes separately. Those particular arpeggios are used more for lead guitar. In a song like the intro to Sublime's "Santeria", he is just holding down a chord, and then picking individual notes.
