Bad Slide Sounding

Can anyone refer me to some funky soul slide. I don't mean bluegrass, I mean like bad sounding. For example that new Ben Harper song with slide. I've downloaded tons of slide but keep getting boring stuff.

I'm talking about the type of slide guitar riffs playing in the background when you walk into a bar, or a fight. You know...?
Or recommened a CD for me to buy that is full of badass sounding slide.

Are you opposed to blues or just bluegrass? All slide comes from blues and country, and blues did it first so learning them would be a good start. Dont limit yourself.

Friggin mean sounding slide, plays both electric and acoustic slide... the guy plays with a ratchet end for god sakes!

Robert Johnson
Traditional blues slide, but he was one of the first to do it. Almost everything done now originated from him in some form.

Muddy waters
He has some great slide too!

Those are jsut a few suggestions, from the description of your interests though, check out johnny winter. Even when hes not playing slide hes a bad ass guitarist.

Or check out Derrick Trucks either with the Allman Brothers Band or the Derrick Trucks Band. for 20 years old he plays a mean slide. I just saw him with the Allmans this past weekend and he blew my mind !
