If you are intending to mix the EMG85 and the dimarzio you will need the EMG PA2 to match the impedances of the passive and active pickups. I'd say get the 81 just to make it simpler.
so if i was the get the PA2, will that ultimately replace the 85?
im long gone man. i wouldnt mind getting it even if it involved a little bit of hassle.

The EMG PA2 is not a pickup, it is a preamp booster circuit that also makes high impedance pickups (passive pickups) low impedance. So it makes passive an active pickups able to be mixed and matched. Actives and passives aren't mixable alone, so the PA2 allows you to do that. I believe it's just a knob, so you could drill another hole, or loose a knob in your system, or just leave it inside the guitar to accomodate it into your system.
oh i see, cool.
Thanks alot for the help.
How much would the whole package cost.
i think i will go for the EMG 85, PA2 and DiMarzio thing.
Cheers.

The EMG and DiMarzio will be 70 bucks a piece. I would fully expect that EMG PA2 to be 50 bucks... but thats just a guesstimate. It could be 20 bucks for all I know. But its going to be well over 140 bucks total for all that.
