I was wondering if anyone knew what scales/progressions/modes/themes are common in the flemenco style.
Specifically I would like to know how to add a flemenco type riff to blues/rock type songs for a little variety.
Also if you know of a good web source on this topic that would be helpful as I haven't found many and the "lessons" I found are usually just tabs of a song.
Thanks

alright, flamenco generally has a lot to do with accompiniment. whether of dance or singing, but this is kind of flamenco sounding

Am G F E

or

E, then F then E

all these chords are the basic open chords

Studying Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" would be a good place to start. The song right after it coincidentally is "You Shook Me" so they go right into the blues after the flamenco-ish "BIGLY".

I've been doing a little of this lately. The phyrigian mode is good for spanish type solos (the flat 2 gives it 'that' sound so emphasise it). You'll need to get a type of fast continous strum going for rhythm playing.

The thing that got me interested was the solo to No Doubts' Don't Speak, check it out: http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,2351

Here's something I use that sounds typically spanish: http://www.boomspeed.com/the_fury/talldekeSpanishriff.ptb

Thanks guys, that really helped out. The flatted 2nd thing is really waht I was looking for even though I didn't know it. That really has a distinctive sound.

This is probably completly irrelevant to your question but maybe its a useful piece of information.
I heard that apparently professional Flamenco guitarists grow their picking thumb nail long so they can get a bold tremolo sound.
