Good question, I like this topic.
So:
Thunderstruck - AC/DC
Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix
Back In Black (the studio version - I mean the muted notes in the beginning, that's something incredibly easy, but it sounds great) -AC/DC
i like strats

I like in particular:
Steal away (the night) - Randy Rhodes
Unchained - VH

i was listening to 'master of puppets' yesterday and i thought 'Battery' had a great intro. So that's another one of my faves.

Metallica knows how to do song intros but- I'm surprised no one has said this yet- Stairway to Heaven. It's just so haunting and it sets the mood for the rest of the song. (I once heard it played by a cello- very cool.)

Well that's a tough one 'cause there are a lot of songs that would fit the bill, but the first song that comes to my mind is "Hotel California" by the Eagles ... great outro solo too... :)

the first opening notes of Hallowed Be Thy Name by Maiden, man... that's ominous, isnt it? The Trooper is a really good opening. My fav maiden intro is probably Children of the Damned. I also like the Diary Of A MadMan intro (Randy Rhoads). That one's really eerie.
And Country Girl and Sign Of the Southern Cross have really cool intros (Both by Black Sabbath). My fav Sabbath intro has to be Heaven And Hell. (especially live)

Mine would either have to be "Dirty Magic" by The Offspring or "Little Soldier Boy" by The Offspring. They are PERFECT solos.

Maybe at the moment,
She's A Star - James
Driving South - The Stone Roses
Then of course, Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
Hells Bells by ACDC.
Simple, appropriate, and a curious title for a song which commemorates the passing away of Bon Scott.

I must agree. Do you know how to plsy this lick? In not, I recommend that you you go to my free lessons page, and click on the link titled "Slash"
I also have a link to a Yahoo! Group which is totally devoted to Slash, called Slash Haven, which you'll find on my links page. I happen to enjoy some of Slash's very tasteful licks in the song "Patience":D
