View Full Version : Can anyone tell me........
... if the acoustic brand "Encore" is any good? They are resonably inexpensive and i know you get what you pay for with instruments but does anyone have any knowledge of them at all. Also, anyone got any reason at all to stay away from them as a potential first acoustic, just to play around with and practice on when i don't have access to power for an amp?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Phil. :)

my advice would be....get it:) ok honestly i know nothing about the brand 'encore'..if it's any good or not,but from what i understood from your posts is that you're planning on an electric,so if u're looking for an acoustic just to mess around on and learn notes and chords etc..the price should be cheap..so get it,you've got nothing to lose. You can always get a better acoustic once you're loaded again.

i dont know what encore acoustics are like, but i played an encore electric solidbody a few weeks back and it was the worst guitar ive ever played.
im pretty sure washburn do some fairly good cheap acoustics as well though, maybe you should check them out
You should check out Yamaha acoustic guitars. I think they start
at 150$. they are pretty good cheap guitars,
Good luck,

There is also another company that makes for a good 1st acoustic, tha one is Samick. I am thinkling about getting a Samick Les Paul copy some time, just because it is a little less expensive.

Try Epiphone. They have a whole bunch of low priced guitars, some with solid tops. You can get reviews on lots of different brands at http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/
Then go to Musician's Friend and Elderly, etc for prices to compare to, then, you can probably find a local store that will do just as good and set up the new guitar as well. The set up is very important, especially in mass produced guitars.
Good Luck
