Ok, I am thinking of buying a Megadeath album. I've never listened to them before. What's a good album to get?

Personally I like, "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" But "Countdown to Extinction" and "Rust in Peace" are really good too...

Megadeth has some really good old school thrash!

'Rust in peace' is the best album for listening to guitars.
'Peace sells' is the best album for some raw heavy thrash tunes.
'Countdown to Extinction' is full of tight melodic tunes.

Personally I think you need those 3 to hear Megadeth, any 1 on it's own and you might think they aren't what they are if ya know what I mean.

The only Megadeth song I've heard is Symphony of Destruction. Not big on thrash, heh.

Yea I agree. Altho my friend did a cover of the Four Horsemen, it sounds a whole lot better than both of them :)

Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings are also good Megadeth albums. The 'World needs a Hero' is good too especially after their small diversion with 'Risk', which personally I didn't mind all that much.

Hell ... just get 'em all ;)

i have peace sells but whos buying and cryptic writings. rust in peice is a classic, but the good thing about cryptic writings is that dave's voice improved a tad. i've always loved megadeth's guitars, bass, drums...but i just hate the vocals. oh well, i guess i cant complain.

after posting, i went back and relistened to some old megadeth and i must say that i forgot how hard they rock(ed). hopefully they will reunite soon!

They broke-up because Dave has permanently injured his arm and cannot play guitar so I don't see a reunion in the future, shame really.

What did he do to injure it? I've read that he did injure it, but I dont know how.

Oh cool, I can't remember what source I heard about it from but was told he'd never play guitar again. Good news if he can.

he had some nerve damage in his left arm, they thought he would never play again as he "couldn't hold a coffee mug with his left hand." But because of his will and determination, and physichal therapy, his hand is now "better than it was before the injury"

I've seen the cover on the guitarone site but it doesn't state a release date, you're in the states right? Maybe it's later in england? Or maybe just my cack town don't stock it, there's only one good magazine store in my town which sucks coz we have like a 100k population and only one place to buy more than just total guitar :(

Rust In Peace is by far thier best. That album is light years beyond anything Metallica (whom theyre most compared to) has created. Both the rhythem and lead work is amazing
