Im thinking of getting a custom guitar from ESP. It is going to cost close to $4,000. It is awsome though! I want to know if it is worth it. If you want to know more than I will tell you what specs are in it. \
The thoing is I have only been playing for a month, but it will take two years two save up for when I get my job, and 8 months to make it. So; is it worth it?

Buddy, it will be a great guitar... but for someone who has been playing a month it's not worth it at all. Buy an ESP: LTD or BC Rich or something that is around 500 bucks. Don't make that huge jump from squier to custom. Take it in steps! I don't even own a custom shop guitar! I don't need to!
Honestly, you may pick specs that you have no idea what they are, and you may realize later in your playing that it is the opposite of what you prefer. Gain experience in how a guitar is made, what each component is, what it does, the variations in it, and how you prefer it to be. You may pick jumbo frets, and you play better on extra-jumbo. You may pick the wrong radius for your neck. So give yourself a few years to really know what you like, and maybe you will find a production guitar that is perfect for you!

i agree that its probably too soon to spend that much cash...even after 2 years...i think youd hafta spend an awful lot of time just submersing yourself in the world of guitar to get to a point where youd really know what to look for in a custom guitar...and be able to USE it...
but...i think saving money is a good idea...cuz in 6 months to a year you are prolly gonna find yourself wanting something new ...and when the time comes for you to be ready for it...youll have some $$$ ready to spend...
so save...but i really think youll change your mind within the next 12 months....
just my opinion of course

If I personally had the money to get a custom made guitar, then I would. But yeh, just wait a little longer and play on some different guitars. You might find one that you like heaps

4 grand's a lotta money,so careful not to use it on something you might regret..like a custom guitar. i think that since you've only been playing for a month,it's crazy to get a custom so soon.It would take you experience with different types of guitars,to be able to know how to hanlde one, what you feel more comfortable in,and so much more knowledge about the actual guitar, not how to play it.
sure its very tempting ,but the chances of you getting it all wrong are very high...and there goes 2 years of saving money!
You can still save for that custom guitar you dream of,but don't go for it till you know exactly what youre doing.
Be patient,Gain experience.

Did any of you seem to notice he said it would take him 2 years to save up for it and another 8 months for it to be made? This means he will have about 3 years of experience heh, however I do agree about what a few said, where you may end up not wanting what you saved up for, but if you are sure this is what you want, go for it. You won't have to buy another guitar for a long time and you will have about 3 years behind it, and if you practice enough 3 years is plenty.

I did notice it will take him that much time(around three years) for him to actually get the guitar but do you really think three years is enough for someone to know exactly what they want in a guitar? buying one, probably but a customized guitar? i doubt it. i dont know, this is just my opinion, if after three years you think you know what you need to know then go for it,but trying out other kinds of guitar and exploring the wonderful yet complicated styles of this instrument seems to me like the smartest thing to do.

Almost 3 years for him to get it. But, it's two years until he decides what it is like. Once he orders it, his experience gained is no good for the guitar being made! You have to do lots of research to get that perfect guitar! Don't go blow 4 grand and then completely regret it!

yeah i noticed too...i still dont think even 3 years is enough....and 4 grand? most of us poor folks wouldnt even consider it...
im betting if in 2 to 2 1/2 years he has 4 grand....his attention is turned towards buying a car.....cuz he'll be gettin his license.....and im also betting that after 2 years of playing he'll realize that a $500-$800 guitar will suit him jusssst fine....and that other 3500 will buy him a car that runs enough to get a job and really start buildin up his collection :)
thats how id do it anyways....hehe
like i said before...just opinion....if hes got his future set up and thousands to throw around....why not....but from how much this current guitar put a strain on his wallet...
id rather not see him get his heart set on something and then get disappointed.....always his decision tho....
by the way? did you notice that hes already got it spec'ed out?hes been playing one month....of course..he'll have lotsa time to change his mind before he orders it...
but one other thing....he already questions if its worth it....otherwise he wouldnt have posted the question....i feel the need to be honest with him...i think its what hes looking for...

then what should I do? customize my guitar I alredy own? Cuz I want to add a baritone neck to it, add a screamin deamin pickup to the bridge and a hotrails pickup to the neck position (if it will fit in a humbucker spot). Since now I do understand now, ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!

No, don't put any more money into your guitar you have. Save up for a nicer guitar. I can't say enough about ESP:LTDs. They are affordable and they are very high quality for their price range. They also make baritones. But, you want that lower range, look into a 7 string guitar. Ibanez and ESP make some great 7 string guitars.

I want a left handed baritone seven string guitar. That is what is going to limit my search for guitars, unless I get one made for me. Wich I found out is completely POINTLESS!

Well, being a lefty you are really limited in what you can buy... There are ways to make a righty guitar lefty. You'd have to flip the nut, and the strap nut. Your controls will be upside down, but eh its alright.
