I've recently found a site, musictheory.net, with an interval ear trainer. I have only 6 on (mjr/mnr 2nd, mjr/mnr 3rd, unison, and octave). I can get the unison and octaves correct almost every time, because they stand out like a sore thumb, but when it comes to the major/minor part, I'm lost. How do you tell between a major and a minor interval? they sound identical to me, even if I hear the same two sounds 500 times. I can tell no difference. Help, anyone? Thanks.

edit: hell, for that matter, I can't get it with only major 2nd and major 3rd selected, and guitar in hand for assistance in hearing/seeing. Is there any way to help? This is quite frustrating, no fun, and I'm already about to give up even trying theory until I can afford a teacher, which isn't looking too swift with a very low income job. Also, just for reference, 1 fret = 1 half step, except e-f, and b-c, am I correct? Thanks.

Those can be veyr hard to learn. A trick to help is put the intraval you are trying to learn to an actual pice of music. Like a major 6th is the meggining of the NBC thing. or a Perfect Fourth is the beggin of HEre Comes the Bride. IF you put it to songs you know then you will be able to help you out a little more. There should be a list on the sight, if Not I can tell you if you like.

I think I can probably look around and find some stuff on the site. Thanks a lot though.

also, e-f and b-c ARE half steps, and thus one fret, like all other half steps...
