Well, I've got a swamp ash guitar body, strat shaped, from a friend who accidently broke the neck and got himself a new guitar.

The body was laquered in solid black with an acrylic laquer. I've removed that finish with a belt sander and sanding paper, so the body's completely blank now.

I want to get my own finish on it now. I have a lot of experience with graffiti so I'm basically looking for acrylic laquer in spraydoses. However, what else do I have to do?? I just want to get my artwork onto the body (in which I am experienced), but then I want to get the "high gloss, almost mirror" look again but do not know how to achieve this!

Does anyone have an idea or a good link to a site with (re)finishing information??

thanks

to get the finish you want you'll need a GOOD spray gun, you shoot the surface with a LIGHT coat of clear finish, then sand with 220 grit paper, repeat.
your going to want at least 4 coats (I would go more like 7 or 8) of finish. make sure you let it dry completely between coats (double the cure time on the can) make sure the finish is oil free (like the oil from your skin) and sanded before the next coat. after you get the finish on you'll need to buff the surface. get a good buffing compound (I use mirror rouge) take your time when you buff it (this is how you get out minor imperfections of your finish). as for the product you use to finish it, I prefer to use a Poly... you can use laquer (traditional)... or there are some good oil based stuff.
