well maybe focussing your practise into specific areas will get your playing going quciker.

Play all your scales you know, major, natural minor, harmonic minor, chromatic. But do it with alternate picking. Play witha metronome and increase your speed every week or month. Only little bit by little bit tho.

Then practise all those scales again with economy picking.

Another thing to practise is sweep picking. I have been told by a guitar teacher that it's very important to get your right hand flowing evenly, so he suggested that you mute out the strings at first, and just get the right hand motion down. Then practise small triad arpeggios, then go into bigger. Remember always start out slow.

I wouldn't concentrate much time into increasing downstroking speed, as yngwie is a lead guitarist =] But his domain is alternate picking and sweep picking. He's a major shredder.

Haha, Yngwie...

To play like him you just hit a bunch of notes as fast as is humanly possible. It won't be pleasing to the ear, but you'll be playing like him!

He's known as a "technician". He can play any note at any speed you want, but he has about the musical feel of a bag of rocks.

hey crazy fingers, I know you have your opinion, but personally I feel it sucks
he is a great guitarist, shredder, musician and mood setter. He is as far as I'm concerned one of the best musician. I mean honestly, writing classical music for electric guitar, thats skill.

He is pretty good indeed, but putting classical music to th guitar had been don before, so that is not too hard.

Also, I think that he falls into repeating himself very often, especcialy when he is improvising live on stage. But then again, who am I to talk...

I agree that he plays too fast a lot of the time, but he can play really nice and slow if he wants to. Yeah, I also think he can fall into the trap of repeating the same lick, but he can improvise very melodically, sometimes. I dont think anyone has really played classical music on guitar quite like Yngwie did. People like Randy Rhoads used little 'classical sounding' licks in their solos, but Yngwie really studied classical music and made the neo-classical guitar style his own.
