I play in the jazz band at my school and i've noticed that playing that music and being able to read music has really improved my bass playing and guitar playing.
What do you think?
To read or not to read?

never stop reading music when you get old like me you might find yourself teaching becausing you enjoy showing people to play. Also alows you to go into different worlds of music as you grow not all music is tab and that gives you the advantage over alot of players. I did some studio time and these guys didn't have time for me to learn there notes by ear I had to read to get paid. I suck at reading so I only lasted a few months.lol P.s. The funk brothers were jazz players that were the best of the best players in the buisness at the time they wrote the mowtown hit for all the band out of detroit. If you master jazz limp biskit, rob zombie will be a breaze. or what ever you like. I more heavy sound rob fits for me.
