I been working on the classical peice (paganini?) that was played at the end of the movie crossroads to win the duel, it's fun (though I'm not quite up to speed yet, and it's a great workout).
i'm also working on "the sky is crying" by srv, i really like that one.

I haven't been playing guitar for one month now coz I was in Malta for my holidays, but what I tried to learn before I left was Are You Ready by AC/DC, especially the intro.

I don't do anyone elses music much anymore.
I've written over 200 songs in the past thirty years and I'm working on them.
I'm taking twenty of them, which I think are my best, and recording tracks to them. Then I'm gonna mix them, master them and burn them to CDs.

Whenever I feel like learnin' something cool I go to tab places, then give up near the end because they posted a ****ty transcription of the solos and riffs

I'm trying to learn Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns N' Roses. I know the intro riff and can play it up to speed. But that is all I have so far. I think I can get the whole thing down in a couple months..

Right now, today???? "Europa" by Santana... yeah, I know, another really slow melodic song... but I LIKE that stuff, and the Santana stuff is fairly easy for me (except for the really fast passages)!!! :D
***
I have been trying to tackle Neal Schon's "Boulevard of Dreams" and "Late Nite" (both instrumental solo works from some years back). But I saw Neal again in concert a week ago in Dallas, and frankly, the guy just plain intimidates me! :( (Not good when I come away all depressed about guitar playing...)
Santana's easier for me than doing Neal's stuff, actually. ... But one of these days.
***
Another song I've been messing around with a bit is Pink Floyd's "Breathe" from Dark Side of the Moon--some laid back David Gilmour is a nice change for me.
***
After that, I guess just making up my own melodies, but they aren't much of a challenge sometimes, unless I create the melody on keyboard first, because I tend to just do stuff that is easy to play, and that's fine, but I don't necessarily improve my skills that way.

The Living End - "Don't shut the gate"
It's not that hard, but I like it ...
To slaughtersoul - I learned that one, too, and it also took me a while, but now that I can play it quite well, it's worth all the practice ...

a couple of months before that first appeared on mtv i'd been noodling about with my old acoustic and came up with this fun 'n cheesy messabout riff, little did i know this 'fun 'n cheesy messabout riff' turned out to be IDENTICAL to the main riff from islands in the sun.

Well at the moment I'm not working on anything specific. I've been having a go at the first solo in Crushing Day by Satriani, and I've been having a go at the first and second Orion guitar solos by Metallica. Oh and I've just got the first solo in Sad But True by metallica done as well.
Btw slaughteredsoul, N.E.M is cool song to play around friends once you get it all going. Just tell me if you need sum help with it. My main problem with it was getting to grips with the timing. Anywho, goodluck

I always said that before i die, i'd like to be able to play the solos on Orion.(and also Iron Maiden's 'Afraid to Shoot Strangers'):)

well I can play the very first part of the 1st crushing day solo.
I've got the second orion solo down, the first I just need to practise a little more.
Now I'm working on a new song by myself. I made up this upbeat sorta, E major chord prog, and I'm trying to work out a lead and solo and stuff to it. I gotta get into it, but lately I've been slacking off. Oh and also working on the last solo of One
