I try to understand how to put this theory to use thats on this site... but i don't know how to use chords on bass(which i guess are playing a single string at a time). do scales have to be spread apart across all the strings... or can they be on 1 string... and can chords be on 1 string too? and HOW DO I USE THEM :(

-When you play two or more notes at the same time it's called a chord.
You usually don't play chords with bass, you only use single notes.

-Yes, a scale can be played on one string. But there are same notes in different parts of the fretboard which eases your task so that you don't have to play everything on one string only. It's faster and easier to use several strings, because you don't have to change your fretting hand position as much.

You could start learning here: http://www.cyberfretbass.com/

Start from "Frist fret" section and good luck!

the easiest bass chords i know of are power chords an octave higher
e.g
------7-7-7-7
------5-5-5-5
-------------
-------------
flea uses this chord shape during 'dont forget me'
i find any chords on the bottom 2 strings hare too muddy to be useful

5-4-5-4-5
5-4-5-4-5
---------
