I'd been playing for about a year before I tried tremolo picking, but I got it straight away, so I guess I had the hand strength coordination already.

are you talking about tremolo picking, or just vibrating a note?

Tremolo picking is very easy, I think everyone can do it right away: have you never seen a newbie tremolopicking a string and occasionally fretting some notes on it, pretending to be THE shredder?

haha yeah, i was at a party once, and the guy had an acoustic. I started jamming on it and this kidasked to play. I asked him if he knew how to play while i handed it to him, he said yeah. So he sat there with it on his lap for a while. I Told him to play me something, and he told me "not till you look away" WTF! thats like admitting that you dont play guitar the way a retard would!

Just cause he doesn't want you to watch doesn't mean he can't play. The blues legend Robert Johnson had to turn his back to people to play cause he was shy. Also i belive Nick Drake was a very shy player. So all i am saying is don't judge so quick.

Another example...Hendrix hated letting people watch him sing he hated his voice (kinda different but same principle).

Maybee he was just crap and talked a load of b.s though!

as for tremolo it kinda comes naturally after you have mastered most picking techniques and hand strengths!

Actually, it's the same for me, I'm not shy at all to play in front of other people, but I'm pretty shy about singing, even if people tell me that my voice isn't bad at all... but somehow, I find it embarassing... but I sing a lot for myself...

here's to that!

today was payday, tonight the LA Doors play my favourite place, it's gonna rock. Then tomorrow night's gonna rock, then Monday, then Tuesday!

@ Jimi=God, if you think your singing Hendrix songs when drunk is bad, one of my mates a fortnight ago went into a housing estate at 3 am and screamed "ACHTUNG!!!!! WAKE UP PLEBEIANS!!!! I REPEAT! WAKE UP PLEBIEANS!!!!!" and then started making his chimpanzee noises...wish I'd never lent him that bloody book (Great Apes) grrr.
